Robin Hood: Real or Fictional?

Image
Was Robin Hood ever real? The whole world, and children specifically, know the story of Robin      Hood, even if it is just a name. What's more, he is genuin ely believed to be a real-life person, but is he?       According to the legends and myths, Robin Hood is a rebel who lived in the 14 th Century in England. An outlaw who is a knight-in-shining-armor for a lot of people. He is a good criminal who steals from the rich to give the poor, or whoever is in need. He was not alone, but he always had his companions with him, robbing those who are filthy rich and giving those who are really poor. The stories always show him and his companions as legendary heroes who seek justice in the world, and robbing was their method.         The reality tells a different story however. The only known and valid source of such character dates back to the 14 th Century to a series of English ballads in which he makes the only appearance. Nonetheless, despite the development of h

The Vanishing Hitchhiker: How true is the story?

"The Vanishing Hitchhiker" or as sometimes referred to as "The Phantom Hitchhiker" is one of the most famous urban legends that have existed. This story has many variations and it varies according to the location.     The legend goes that one day a couple were driving on the highway when they saw a girl on the side of the road. They stopped to ask if they could give her a ride and she agreed. She told the address to her house and then she stopped talking. The couple thought she fell fast asleep, so they didn't bother waking her up. However, when they reached their destination, they turned around to tell the girl but they found out she was gone, just vanished. They told the story to whoever was there and the man responded that she was his daughter and that she has died a few years back. The couple was astonished and they did not utter a word. After all, they found out the girl they gave a ride to was a ghost.     Another variation of the story stat

When a Stranger Calls

A lot of people, especially teenagers, have heard about this story. It is often referred to as "The Babysitter and the man upstairs", or like the 1979 or 2006 version of the film "When a Stranger Calls". This is like one of the most popular urban legends that has survived over many decades.       This story is about a babysitter and a couple of children, others say three. In this story, a married couple go out for dinner and leave the children with a babysitter, specifically a high school student. They tell the children are already asleep and she need not wake them up. A short while after they are gone, the phone rings but when she answers no one talks. This happens a couple of times, and she thinks it is her boyfriend that she has been waiting for a call from. But it is not him, because the next time she answers, a stranger says "Did you check on the children?" then hangs up. This happens again. Finally, she calls the police but they tell her as lo

Boogeyman Is Real

Stories about monsters have been going on forever, especially those that speak of monsters under the bed. There is almost no child on earth that has not heard of this story at least once in their lives and got scared of it.      The myth about the "Boogeyman" goes under a lot of names. They go something along these lines: a monster hides under the bed to scare non-obedient children and make them behave themselves, or the other version, a patient has escaped a mental health institution and crawls at night and murders children.     Other myths exist all over the world under a lot of names. For instance, in Spain and Mexico, there is the myth of "El Coco". It is basically the same story about someone who takes away misbehaving children, or more specifically orphans and their misbehavior is pretty much refusing to go to sleep.  This was very famous in Spain during the 16 th and 17 th Centuries. Japan and Korea among other countries in the
