"The Vanishing Hitchhiker" or as sometimes referred to as "The Phantom Hitchhiker" is one of the most famous urban legends that have existed. This story has many variations and it varies according to the location. The legend goes that one day a couple were driving on the highway when they saw a girl on the side of the road. They stopped to ask if they could give her a ride and she agreed. She told the address to her house and then she stopped talking. The couple thought she fell fast asleep, so they didn't bother waking her up. However, when they reached their destination, they turned around to tell the girl but they found out she was gone, just vanished. They told the story to whoever was there and the man responded that she was his daughter and that she has died a few years back. The couple was astonished and they did not utter a word.
